Some airport employees have wondered how Minnesota Gov.Tim Walz’s “Stay Home Order” impacts Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and those who work there.
The governor’s executive order provides for workers in certain industries to continue to go to work and perform their duties, including those whose work relates to critical infrastructure.
Specifically, in communication about the executive order, the Governor’s Office stated, “Workers who work in critical sectors during this time are exempt from the stay at home order.”
The executive order defines critical sectors as those labeled as such by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. That includes workers at airports, which are considered critical infrastructure that must continue to operate.
Therefore, MSP will continue to operate, and those who work at the airport or in support of air transportation at MSP can continue to perform their jobs as directed by their employer.
