The second phase of the ongoing MnDOT Hwy. 5 construction project near MSP Airport began this week.
The second phase of the project involves the closure of several entrance and exit ramps between Hwy. 5 and Hwy. 62/55 and Bloomington and Sheppard roads near Fort Snelling on the bluff above the Mississippi River.
Beginning June 24 through early August, MnDOT says the following ramps will be closed:
- Highway 62 west to/from Highway 5 west
- Highway 5 west to Highway 62 east
- Highway 5 west to Bloomington Road
- Highway 62 west to Bloomington Road
- Shepard Road to Highway 5 west
Hwy. 5 east between I-494 and Davern Street – across the Mississippi River bridge – will remain closed as it has since April when the project began.
The third phase of the project is scheduled to begin in August. Then, westbound Hwy. 5 will be closed between Hwys. 62/55 and I-494. The entire project is expected to be completed in October.
